The Genesis
The UNICA project is the consequence of a long personal and professional journey that Gabriele Carniello, the funder, started in the early 2000 in Venice, Italy, when mass tourism wasn’t an issue yet. Being raised in an open-minded Italian society, having been lucky enough to travel all over the world and understanding of the most diverse cultures, with a professional background in luxury real estate, it was a short step for Gabriele to enter the world of high-end hospitality. But after about a decade of rewarding hard work in the hometown Venice, mass tourism market dynamics started tweaking to standardized travel trends which undermined his passion of authentic hospitality. From here the sparkle to “spin-off” from the hustle-and-bustle of the busy tourist destination and engage in a sentimental, almost romantic challenge: taking his prestigious guests off the beaten tracks, in less known and surprisingly beautiful hidden gems of our beloved country.
