Asolo & The Venetian Villas
Built at the end of the 17th century, this Villa is a fascinating example of Venetian architecture found just below the “Rocca di Asolo”, the ancient fortification used also as watchtower for its privileged 360 degrees long distance view.
It’s situated on a sloping terraced land facing south, therefore enjoying sunshine all year long, from which you can enjoy a spectacular view of the surrounding plains: on a clear day the view stretches all the way to Venice! It has a strategic position, surrounded by the tranquility and greenery of its centennial gardens and trees, just a few steps from Asolo historic town center.
The prestige and the uniqueness of this Villa is witnessed by the harmony of the architectural proportions and by the sophisticated and well-preserved stuccoes, frescoes and marbles of the 18th century that confer an elegant and vivid atmosphere.
At the heart of the property there is the Villa, with the two porticoed barns on the sides, now converted into dependence for guests and the loving owner, Mrs. Cristina, who takes care of her guests with great passion and infinite class, in the warmest Italian fashion.
In addition to the pleasure of hanging out in the luscious garden, there is a large swimming pool with panoramic view and a poolside kitchen/BBQ area perfect for informal family reunion celebrations. For a more formal supper, there is a large stone table under a century old wisteria perfect for an elegant out-door dining experience. Believe it or not, you can also celebrate mass in the beautiful, consecrated chapel part of this exceptional property.
Explore the narrow streets of the old town finding hidden gardens, the famous Antiques market which takes place every second Sunday of the month and, for golf enthusiasts, the wonderful scenario of the Asolo Golf Club. Villa Della Rocca offers a unique journey in the Asolo hills of Prosecco too.
Do not miss the opportunity to visit this magical land that has always fascinated famous personalities of culture and art: musicians such as Gian Francesco Malipiero and Martha Argerich, architects as Carlo Scarpa and Oscar Niemeyer. But also, passionate writers and travelers like the famous author Freya Stark who used to spend time at the Villa telling about her adventures. Even the Queen Mother of England was received for a lunch in the garden surrounded by the hardy scent of her favorite flowers: the centenary white roses.
